RACE 19 - ABU DHABI - FINAL RACE REPORT, RESULTS AND HIGHLIGHTS

R0CKEYE TAKES THE WIN BUT SHEEPIE UK TAKES THE TITLE !

Race 19 - Abu Dhabi - Pole = R0ckeye - LOTUS - 1:40.911

Well after 18 races and 4 months it all came down to the last race to determined who would be crowned the season 1 chamption. After a re-run of qualy, R0ckeye was clearly on the pace setting an incredible 1:40.911 - 1 and half seconds quicker then Bannbino.

At the start R0ckeye made the first corner still in the lead with Bannbino close behind but Sheepie UK found the rear of his F1 car yet again targeted with another shunt up the shitbox at turn 1. 2 places were lost but soon regained as Hypno and Squeak clashed with debris flown all over the track as Squeak seemed to go off road and bounce over the kerbs.
Bannbino outbroke R0ckeye into 5 at the left hander only for R0ckeye to sweep agressively back round and nearly collecting Bannbino on the way round.
Bsheepie was dertermined to go out on a high having put in many practise hours and made 3rd on qualy which he was holding going down the long straight. But at the braking point into turn 8 he clashed with Tempy303 got on the green stuff and span, Sheepie UK narrowly avoiding him as Tempy303 had no choice but to go round the right of his spun car and back on the track. The stewards gave Tempy a 10 second penalty for an illegal overtake but had no choice but to go on the outside. In the end it wouldn't matter come the chequered flag. So Sheepie UK, knowing he only needed 4th regardless of what anyone else did sat in behind Tempy303 into lap two only for Tempy303 to make the same mistake again at turn 8 and Sheepie glady accepted 3rd. But later on a superb drive from Tempy303 after pitting eventually caught and overtook to re-take 3rd place. Elsewhere on lap 5 bsheepie was gaining on his 4th placed brother only to bizarrely clip the barrier at turn 2 and destroy the front of his car and so his race and season came to an abrubt end. Sheepie UK later revealed that he was relieved that his brother wasn't hurt but glad he didn't have to fight for any places with him. Villa John, Squeak83 and Hypno85 suffered with spins and damage and was some way behind the front 4. Satak0 making only his 3rd ever race seemed to get bored of being lapped and decided enough was enough but doing doughnuts at the side of the track before jogging on to watch the premier league game of spurs v arsenal. With 28 laps, tyres and pit strategy were always going to be key and it seemed R0ckeye had played his cards right, and even after Bannbino had pitted twice due to errors rarely seen by him, still pulled away to take his 6th win of the season. Races have run out for R0ckeye and what might had been, but surely will be right up in contention in season 2. Bannbino despite making more then the one scheduled pit stop came in 2nd and has to settle for the runners-up spot depsite winning 7 races this year. Tempy303 again impressive to take 3rd by some distance and finish 3rd overall. Sheepie UK was taking it slow and steady and managed to get over the line in 4th and claim the championship glory by only 2 points. Despite only having 2 wins he was in the top 3 another 9 times with 6 2nd places and 3 3rd's. Hypno85 finished in 5th a lap behind as was Squeak83 in 6th, Villa John completing the dilapidated field in 7th - 2 laps behind after having to make 4 pit stops and commented afterwards his dislike for the track.

So there you have it, our inaugral season 1 champion Sheepie UK taking the honours by only 2 points from Bannbino, with Tempy303 only 5 points behind in 3rd. R0ckeye's 4 wins from the last 5 races sees him in 4th and Squeak83 5th. Hypno85 finished a good 6th with Villa John profiting from bsheepie's demise to grab 7th place with the latter having to settle for 8th. DJ Noely in 9th was the last of the "regulars".

So looking forward to season 2 now and it's certainly going to be a battle all the way and surely we will see an even closer finish and an even tighter fight for the title.
