RACE 9 - REPORT AND RESULT – SILVERSTONE

So as we head back from the European GP at Valencia to the home of the British grand prix at Silverstone. Silverstone's mix of corners make it a good test of the abilities of car and driver, but overtaking is difficult. Becketts and Copse, in particular, are daunting tests for man and machine - and provide spectators with a glimpse of an F1 car's awesome capabilities.

Track stats:
Lap length: 3.660 miles
Race laps: 10
Season one winner: Bannbino (Force India)
First grand prix: 1948
Fascinating fact: Keke Rosberg, father of current Mercedes Grand Prix driver Nico, drove his Williams at an average of 160.938mph to claim pole in 1985, making Silverstone the world's fastest circuit at the time. It later emerged he had a slow puncture.

Qualifying
The weather was clear but cloudy as the drivers prepared for qualifying there was a lot of talk over team radio’s that some drivers didn’t like the track. No sympathy was given from the other drivers who had attended there own private practice session and got the track layout ingrained on their brains.

This point was proven when a ever improving Cheeseman69 nailed every inch of the track and hit every kerb to put a superb pole lap of 1.30.958. He was followed by Bannbino in 2nd with a 133.365 with Hypno85 taking 3rd with a 133.795 which in fact was the exact same time as 4th place ADMAN11. Sadly for R0ckeye he couldn't attend due to other duties.

Pole - Cheeseman69 = 1.30.958

Let watch Bannbino fastest lap of qualifying with Martin Blundell

Race
So race day was upon us the drivers and there teams tweaking their cars in their garages. With the weather radars telling them with a 44% chance of rain, would we have any splash back or intermediate tyres coming out of there covers like the last race? Well the simple answer to this is “Of course not you f**king numpty” (Quoted from Valencia)

As the cars sat on the grid for the 5 green lights to go out the sky was clear with clouds in the distance. GO! GO! GO! As the drivers see the lights go out and the cars wheel spinning and revving of the line Cheeseman69 kept 1st with the rest of the top half of the field keeping order and moving into the racing line for Copse corner. Coming out of the first corner Bannbino was all over Cheeseman69 who stayed cool and got the Becketts complex nailed, Bannbino on the other hand got his entry wrong put him on the grass and out of shape for the rest of the complex.

This gave Hypno85 a run on the outside of Bannbino on the exit of Chapel Curve, but the angle closed off Hypno85 and a slight touch of tyres put Hypno85 on the grass who was duly caught up and passed by ADMAN11 at Vale. At this point Cheeseman69 was gone in the distance with a gap of 1.5 seconds by the end of the lap.

Forth place ADMAN11 caused Sheepie UK to lose his concentration on the first lap. When ADMAN11 shoved himself over to get on the racing line and Sheepie UK ended up hanging about in the gravel. After Sheepie UK had covered his s**t up in the gravel he managed to recover back up to 5th

ADMAN11 got his backdoors smashed in by Satak0 on the first lap when he missed his braking point. Satak0 was graced with a drive-through which put him to the back of the grid. He was able to reclaim a few places in otherwise uneventful 8 or so laps. He was able to get up to 6th as he passed Squeak at the pit exit but Squeak hounded him down and forced Satak0 into an error midway through the penultimate lap. Satak0 gained a second or so in the last lap but was unable to pass on the penultimate corner and had to settle for 7th.

Bannbino had a bad pit stop and came out in 3rd he managed to get into 2nd. He then span on Club corner and was passed and dropped to 5th. He managed to claw his way back up to 2nd with some nice overtakes… He was heard over the radio complaining that ADMAN11 blatantly shunted into the side off him on lap 9, stewards enquiry came back with a note ‘Man the f**k up you were 2nd place’.

So Cheeseman69 takes the win at his home race, followed by Bannbino in 2nd and ADMAN11 gets on the last step in 3rd.
