BELGIUM AND ITALY RACE PREVIEW
PRESSURE MOUNTS AS THE SPRINT TO THE FINISH GATHERS PACE
With the season half way point been and gone, it’s a downhill sprint to the finish. Sheepie UK has opened his lead at the front of the pack to 9 points from bannbino, with Tempy303 only 8 points further back in 3rd place – which is still wide open as only 11 points separates Tempy303 in 3rd, Squeak83 in 4th and r0ckeye in 5th!
BSheepie’s early season form still eludes him after as he slips further down the table into 6th. Hypno85 is cemented in 7th place after his maiden win in Germany, but 6th is only 5 points away. 8th placed Spunky’s ongoing absence should now come to an end after missing 3 GP’s as Villa John closes in on him from 9th. DJ Noely rounds up the list or current runners in 10th, just 1 point behind, as Rick7363’s continued absence sees him tumble down the order to what is effectively last place in the table.
Technical difficulties at the last race saw the only postponement of the season so far, as the Hungarian GP fell fowl of the Gremlins. It will have to be rescheduled into the calendar, but for now, attention turns to the historic circuits of Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
RACE 13 – SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS
Next up, the Belgian GP at Spa-Francorchamps, a circuit regarded as one of the greatest by anyone who has ever raced there. Set high up in the Belgian countryside close to the German border, wet weather is a common feature.
From the start line it’s a short dash down to turn 1, la Source, scene of perhaps the greatest F1 pile up ever in 1998, where it’s more than likely they’ll be some comings together due to cold tyres and brakes!
RACE 14 – MONZA
The circus then travels to Monza, home to the Tifosi. Whoever climbs into the Ferrari will want a home win to keep them happy! Monza consists of long straights and slow chicanes, putting an emphasis on good traction under braking. As there are only 3 proper corners (the 2 Lesmos and the Parabolica), cars are set up for maximum performance on the straights.
