CAN SHEEPIE UK RETAIN THE TITLE? SEASON 2 STARTS HERE !

May 24th signals the start of season 2. With a close finish to the end of season 1, the new season is set to be even closer. Sheepie UK took the honours by only 2 points in the end on the very last race with Bannbino and Tempy303 narrowly missing out. R0ckeye went on a fantastic run at the end of the season, claiming 4 wins a 2nd and a 3rd. If he carries that form into season 2 he must surely be a contender and one of the favourites. So too must Squeak83 who was very consistant througout and only technical issues prevented him closing in on the leaders. Add to the mix the improving form of Hypno85 and Villa John plus new blood in EagleJay01, Satako and Adman11 it's set to be a hard fought one. At the time of writing, two places are still to be filled with Bsheepie pulling out due to work commitments but is set to return in season 3. DJ Noely is hoped to be in but is having trouble securing the funding for a second season. Sheepie UK commented "I think season 2 is going to be even closer then the first. I predict 5 or 6 drivers still being in with a shout of the title come Abu Dhabi and Brazil and is going to be hard fought to the end."

So with triple headers making up the race calender lets take a preview of the first 3 races.

Race 1 - Australia. Season 1 Winner = Bsheepie

The circuit uses everyday sections of road that circle Albert Park Lake, a small man-made lake just south of the Central Business District of Melbourne. The course is considered to be quite fast and relatively easy to drive, drivers having commented that the consistent placement of corners allows them to easily learn the circuit and achieve competitive times. However, the flat terrain around the lake, coupled with a track design that features few true straights, means that the track is not conducive to overtaking. Season 1 saw quite a pile up on turns 1 and 2 so lets hope for no repeat.

Lets hear Webber take us round his home circuit:

Race 2 - Malaysia. Season 1 Winner = Bannbino

Onto Race 2 and Malaysia. First included in the Formula One World Championship in 1999, the current Malaysian Grand Prix is held at the Sepang International Circuit at Sepang, Malaysia. The eleven World Championship Malaysian Grands Prix have seen a good deal of action on and off the track, whilst the weather—furnace heat one minute, tropical storm the next—adds extra spice. Two quite long straights offer a good opportunity for overtaking. Season 1 saw quite a few clashes with Spunky UK claiming Bsheepie was driving dodgems not F1 cars, and Tempy303 will be hoping his pit crew don't repeat their mistake of putting wets on during a dry pit stop.

Lets hear Webber give us the lowdown:

Race 3 - China. Season 1 Winner = Bannbino

Race 3 sees the circus move to China Town. It is currently held at the Shanghai International Circuit, Shanghai, designed by Hermann Tilke. When completed in 2004, it was the most expensive Formula One circuits costing $240 million. The track is 5.451 km long and features one of the trickiest corners combinations on the Formula One calendar, comparable to that of Istanbul Park's turn 8, also designed by Tilke. Turn 1 and 2 are a very demanding 270 degree, right-handed corner combination that requires a lot of speed whilst entering and it tightens up towards the end. In season 1 quite a pile up ensued at turn 11 caused by Bsheepie tangling with Sheepie UK and involved several other cars, who in turn took out DJ Noely.

Webber gives us the expert view:

Everyone will be wanting to get season 2 off to a good start, and with 36 points up forr grabs it looks set to be a great battle!

Bring it on! C U N Tuesday ! Very Happy
